What is WordPress and Why Do I Love it?

WordPress is free web software you can use to create a website or a blog. It adds the capability of a Content Management System to your site and with a little know-how, it’s possible to transform a site into almost anything you can imagine. It is created and maintained by the fine folks at WordPress.org

What does this mean for you?

The platform allows you to take control over your own site (to add, edit and remove content), incorporate advanced functionality (e-commerce, mapping, user submitted content, etc.). It means once the site is live you will be able to maintain it without the help of a webmaster, which saves you money and time.

Easy-to-Use and Lots of Functionality

WordPress is continually improving its Content Management System, giving you an intuitive and user-friendly back-end tool. Wonderful features of the WordPress include easily embeddable videos, responsive images, photo galleries, e-commerce, and of course the blog, which started it all. Plugins allow you to add all kinds of functionality, like tables, shopping carts, forums, maps, and anything you can think of.

Easily Add a Blog To Your Site

WordPress really came to fame for blogging and many still consider it to be a blog platform. With categories, tags, threaded commenting, great moderation controls, anti spam solutions and plugin infrastructure, it’s a fantastic blog solution. Of course the blog feature may also be used for Latest news of your business, which allows you to easily and regularly add fresh content to your site.

Beautiful Design within Reach

Everyone wants a site that has just the right look and feel. For years, I developed totally custom sites for that purpose. But with WordPress, there’s a whole world of design templates, or “themes,” that are free or low-cost. Some of my best sites started with an inexpensive theme. With customization, they turned into beautiful, one-of-a-kind sites that looked like they’d been designed from scratch. I can save you time and money by working with these pre-existing themes.

Google Loves WordPress

The layout and infrastructure of a WordPress site makes it attractive to Google. Why should you care about that? The more attractive your site is to Google, the better your position in search results. By using WordPress as your platform, you get built-in search engine optimization!

Your Site Will Grow With You

Long gone are the days when a static “brochure” site was enough. Today you need a site that will change with you – whether that means frequent blogging, updated images of your work or the addition of new features. It’s so easy to make these changes on your own. No more webmaster and long delays. It’s all right at your fingertips!
