What is WordPress and Why Do I Love it?

WordPress is web software you can use to create a website or a blog. It’s free to download and use. It adds the capability of a Content Management System to your site and with a little know-how, it’s possible to transform a site into almost anything you can imagine.

So, what does this mean for you?

For starters, a WordPress site will save you a lot of money, both in development and ongoing maintenance. The platform allows you to take control over your own site (to add, edit and remove content), incorporate advanced functionality (e-commerce, mapping, user submitted content, etc.) and get better search results.

But with WordPress, there’s a whole world of design templates, or “themes,” that are free or low-cost. Some of my best sites started with an inexpensive theme.
