My name  is Susanne Friedrich and I make websites.

My background is in graphic design, but I have also studied painting, ceramics, printmaking and glass, all of which has a profound influence on my visual style and the way I put together a website. I have produced web sites for more than a decade and have expertise in WordPress, a open content software system that makes it easy for you to edit and administer your own site.

I came to web development from the design end: I studied Graphic Design and Photography at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and have designed and produced websites since 1999. The early ice age of web development as you might recall.

I learned a lot during four years as Senior Designer at Zoomedia Inc, a boutique agency specializing in communication for the Life Sciences,  before venturing out on my own.

I am an unapologetic autodidact. I learned the art and craft of coding in HTML and later XHTML and CSS by reading and experimenting.  I wanted to create websites that loaded quickly, were accessible on various browsers, were easy to read on text-only devices and were easy to update.

The web changes  very fast and it is essential to keep up with the latest standards and capabilities. I build my sites using clean and valid code, and incorporate cool and fun effects with javascript and sometimes flash.

I discovered WordPress a couple of years ago and have become an enthusiastic fan of this brilliant, open-source tool.

WordPress is no longer just for blogging, but is a highly versatile content management system for beautiful, robust websites.
